At the beginning of 2014 I contacted Karen for her running expertise to help me break my target time of 2hrs 40 in the London Marathon (previous PB 2hrs 48 mins). Karen had 12 weeks to work her magic and quickly provided me with the best and most tailored training plan I have ever worked to. Not only was the training plan manageable around a full time job, it also encouraged rest days, something I hadn’t ever considered! Above all Karen’s training plan, her track sessions on Wednesdays, and her constant words of encouragement proved highly motivating.
Within 12 weeks of working with Karen I ran personal bests in half marathon distance ( 1h 14 mins) and full distance marathon (2hr 39 mins).
Without doubt Karen has been instrumental in helping me achieve this year’s personal bests and I now look forward to seeing how much faster Karen can get me running.
Spring 2015 update:
After another winter of hard work, Chris again took up the challenge of the Virgin Money London Marathon, we’d set another PB as the target – working towards the ultimate goal of beating his Dad’s time of 2.32 in Chicago later this year. In an amazing race in which Chris overtook Paula Radcliffe (yes you read that right!) he took another 4 minutes off his time and acheived a new PB of 2.35. There is going to be some hard work over the next 6 months, and taking seconds let alone minutes off your marathon time at his kind of pace is a big ask, but if anyone can do it, Chris can. Watch this space…….
